Wedding Sign
Two very important friends of mine eloped in what has to be the most glorious ceremony I've seen. Full of woodsy vibes, lush greenery, and the best people, the very thought of it makes my heart burst! I was insanely honored when Adam and Emily asked me to make this sign for their ceremony, and after, their home. These are two immensely kind people, who are so contagiously warm, and I was determined to give them the best I had. The base is made from black walnut, milled in to planks that were then glued up in a board. Next, we took the router to carve it in to a circle, then gave it a rounded edge for a smooth look. It was sanded through the grains, and friends, lemme tell you: this was the silkiest wood circle you ever did see! The text was carved by hand on the scroll saw with hard maple, in the font Clarkson. I then hand sanded them to the same silky smoothness as the board, and glued them up. After assembly, it was coated in a spray polyurethane, fine sanded once more, then got a final coat to seal it all in. Talking about the sign and this perfect elopement is all well and good, but I can't stress enough: Adam and Emily are what made this sign beautiful, and their elopement, beautiful. So join me in wishing them all their deserved happiness as the newest Whitcombs, top tier people, and Maine's finest!
